  • Get Re-educated!

    The Fly

If you live in America and are without proper employment, it may be time to get on the Government dole and check yourself into a “re-education program,” courtesy of the Government. When times are tough, people like to go back to school, in order to find another skill  or waste some time doing dick. Nevertheless, with 10% unemployment and the job landscape rapidly changing, dumb fuckers from the Midwest, as well as other parts of the U.S., need to get their learn on.

    The Fly

In early 2009 I started going long stocks at the height of the credit crisis, give or take a week or two (some of you are just so sensitive). Do you remember what stocks I started buying?

    Survey says:

  • Still All In

    The Fly

As you know, about 1 month ago, I announced that I was going “all in,” in an effort to forget about risk and bask in the glory that is the stock market. Since then, I am delighted to report, I have done quite well. As a matter of fact, my returns have been nothing less than stellar. Despite an affinity for “fad stocks” and “small winners,” “The Fly” has really throw the old wooden javelin through the old eye socket a couple dozen times since then, with wins in Sears Holdings Corporation (SHLD: 88.88 +1.93%) , Green Mountain Coffee Roasters Inc. (GMCR: 82.985 +0.25%) , Ctrip.com International, Ltd. (ADR) (CTRP: 74.30 -2.94%) etc. I will not bore you with the details.

    The Fly

Everyone with a series 7 east of the Marshall Islands has been looking for a pullback; because, well, they’re just looking for it. There is no specific near term catalyst that will stall the rally, short of the dollar rising for a few days. People just love to hate this market. As a result, they get the black flag planted in their red ink.

It is true: Yesterday, I sold out of 90% of my Green Mountain Coffee Roasters Inc. (GMCR: 78.62 +1.24%) position. However, that does not preclude me from participating in today’s spike, quite the contrary.

Often times when a stock has a giant short position there is something wrong with the company. For the most part, professional short sellers are very intelligent and are extraordinarily detailed in their reasoning behind their downside bets. In downward trending markets, I like to sell short stocks with a large percentage of shares sold short— for the “pile on” effect. Typically, those stocks are easy to break, because people think something is wrong with them. It’s all about perception.

    The Fly

Jake and I are having a little debate about stocks, in the previous thread. While he may be correct about the ultimate destiny of Green Mountain Coffee Roasters Inc. (GMCR: 70.32 +2.21%) ; it is silly to single out any stock as a “fad.”

For the record, I think gold has bottomed, for now. And, I believe, emphatically, my chances of making “fuck you Santa Claus, I have my own sled” type of money in Green Mountain Coffee Roasters Inc. The banks are not good investments, mainly because they are impaired. Some of them do better than others. However, for the most part, in recent months, they have been a waste of time. With that being said, thanks to a variety of reasons, there is a distinct chance they will explode to the upside shortly, fueled by people who are leaning the wrong way.
