For my money, recognition of "anchoring" is the most powerful tool at our disposal...we get locked into vivid memories from the recent past and place too much weight on that information.

Channeling Teddy Ballgame
Derek Hernquist, | October 22nd, 2009 at 3:24 pm Ted Williams once said that hitting a baseball was the hardest thing to do in sports. So how did he do it? Was he born with the skill, or did he learn along the way? Is this relevant if our "sport" is tackling markets?
We often hear the terms discipline, patience, and confidence when discussing what makes a great trader/investor. Are those traits inherent, or can they be learned? While the answer probably lies between "born" vs. "bred", I am a firm believer that the most common learned skill amongst winners is a dedication to their EDGE. Of all the great speculators I've observed over the years, what stands out is their willingness to ignore areas outside of their wheelhouse.
